据台媒报道，车祸疑因游览车下山，休旅车上山，天雨路滑，会车时不慎碰撞。至于肇事原因，警方正在调查中。
由于撞击力道很大，休旅车车头几乎全毁，游览车玻璃也碎裂成蜘蛛网状。据抢救人员到达现场回报，现场共11名伤者：休旅车上有5名伤者(3男2女)，载有大陆游客的游览车上有6名伤者(2男4女)。
